The ratings and the betting both suggested a close encounter between unbeaten 7/4 favourite Droopys Jet and 9/4 second favourite Ballymac Vic, with Droopys getting the nod being drawn inside Vic. In the event, as the traps rose it was Ballymac Vic who was the unexpected leader, breaking in 4.72 and leading around the first bend from Droopys Jet and Sidaz Jack on the rails. There was significant bumping at the first, with Droopys Jet suffering more than Screen Critic and Sidaz Jack. Sidaz Jack bravely survived the bumping to take up the running around the second bend and ran on well to win by a length and a quarter. Airlie Impact, who started poorly, ran on the strongest of all ans caught Ballymac Vic on the run in by a short head to claim second place.

First Semi Final

In the most competitive of the 2 semi finals three dogs were closely matched, with Droopys Jet the likely favourite, Ballymac Eske, the pre-tournament favourite, ideally drawn on the inside, and Screen Critic threatening on the outside. The betting also suggested that these 3 were clear of the field, with Droopys Jet at 11/8 favourite, Ballymac Eske at 9/4, and Screen Critic at 6/1. It was then 7/1 bar the 3. As the traps went up the favourite, Droopys Jet, was quickly into his stride and led around the first bend from Bittles Bar and Ballymac Eske. Around the second bend Ballymac Eske was crowded by Hather George, putting paid to both their chances and allowing Droopys to go clear. Bittles Bar remained handy throughout, but around the fourth bend there was further crowding between Screen Critic and Holdem Spy. A good tussle between the two ensued for the final qualifying place, with Screen Critic prevailing by the shortest of short heads. Droopys Jet was impressive in winning by 2 1/2 lengths in 28.38, with Bittles Bar (28.59) a length and a quarter in front of Screen Critic (28.69) at the line.

Second Semi Final

On ratings, the second semi final was much more clear cut, with Ballymac Vic opposed by 5 seemingly inferior greyhounds. The betting reflected this, with Ballymac Vic being sent off the 4/5 favourite, and Sidaz Jack next best at 3/1. As the traps went up it was Sidaz Jack who led at the first but was crowded on the inside and allowed favourite Ballymac Vic to take it up after the first bend. The favourite then led throughout the race from Sidaz Jack, with outside fancy Airlie Impact in third and Tyrur Sugar Ray in fourth on the rails. Ballymac Vic won by 2 lengths in an impressive 28.29, while it was left to strong finishing Airlie Impact (28.45) to chase him home in second by 1/2 a length from Sidaz Jack (28.49) in third.

First Quarter Final

In the opening quarter final the middle traps were closely matched with Shaneboy Spencer top rated. The betting also reflected this, with Shaneboy Spencer at 5/2 favourite and Farloe Warhawk at 4/1. In the event it was Sidaz Jack, at 8/1, who led on the rails and made all to win by 1/2 a length. Shaneboy and Farloe were forced to check at the first and lost all chance thereafter. It was left to 12/1 outsider Hather George, wo enjoyed a clear run, to challenge around the final two bends and just failed to overhaul Sidaz Jack. Tyrur Sugar Ray also enjoyed a clear run on the inside to claim the final qualifying place, a further 2 lengths back in third.

Second Quarter Final

The best of the quarter finals pitted impressive unbeaten Ballymac Vic against fellow unbeaten Irish star Droopys Jet. Given that Droopys enjoyed the inside birth, and equally dangerous Screen Critic the wide outside birth, the scene was set for a titanic struggle. The betting also reflected this, with Ballymac Vic going off at 11/8 favourite, Dropys Jet strongly fancied at 7/4 and Screen Critic at 5/2. In the event it was Droopys who railed well and lead at the first. He maintained his lead throughout despite being challenged throughout by Ballymac Vic, and won by a length and a quarter, whilst Screen Critic was crowded at the first on the wide outside, but cliamed the third qualifying place.

Third Quarter Final

This was billed as the easiest of the quarter finals with impressive ante post favourite Ballymac Eske seemingly having the race at his mercy. Third Round star Holdem Spy had beaten Shaneboy Alley and was expected to do so again. The betting reflected Ballymac Eske's chance as he was the 4/6 favourite, with Holdem Spy also fancied at 7/2. As the traps went up it was Frisby Barney who led at the first from Shaneboy Alley, with Ballymac Eske hugging the rails in third. Around the second bend Shaneboy Alley took up the running and led to the third bend before being overhauled by the strong running Ballymac Eske who went on to win by 1 3/4 lengths from fast finishing Holdem Spy, with Teejays Bluehawk running on well to claim the third qualifying place some 2 1/4 lengths further back.

Fourth Quarter Final

The final quarter final, and potentially the weakest of the four, presented Bittles bar with a chance to make the most of his wide birth, whilst the previously impressive Bonamassa Rocks was expected to enjoy a clear run on the inside. The betting made the inside pair joint favourites at 2/1, with highest rated Bittles Bar the 5/2 third favourite. Bittles Bar broke swiftly on the wide outside and led throughout to win by 1 3/4 lengths. Farloe Tango was slowly away and bumped to lose his chance at the first, whilst both Bonamassa Rocks and Carkei Max enjoyed clear runs but were not good enough. It was left to 12/1 outsider Airlie Impact to chase home Bittles Bar, while 20/1 Bouncy Bocko claimed the final semi final place a short head back in third.
